Commissioner makes a surprise visit to police stations

Special Correspondent

Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu on Thursday made a surprise visit to all the police stations in the City to assess the preparedness of the police personnel.

Mr. Babu interacted with the Assistant Commissioners of the respective sub-divisions and Inspectors and personnel in other ranks. He advised the officials to have a notice board each in all police stations. Information on public meetings, demonstration and other activities should be written on the board to ensure that the personnel on shift are aware of the activities, he said.

He also asked the officials to act in a free and fair manner without partiality in ensuring the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, which was important for ensuring smooth and peaceful conduct of elections. He also inspected the lock-ups and verified the registers and armoury.
