Kolkata: Former West Bengal Chief Secretary Manish Gupta is likely to be Trinamool Congress candidate against Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in the prestigious Jadavpore Assembly constituency.

“I have appealed to her (Mamata Banerjee) to nominate me to contest the Assembly election as Trinamool Congress candidate and I may be proposed as a candidate to contest from Jadavpore constituency,” the retired bureaucrat, who met the Trinamool supremo at her Kalighat residence for the second day on Saturday, told reporters.
