BANGALORE: Hundreds of contract workers of the public sector major HAL, who have been working for the past two decades in jobs that are “permanent and perennial in nature”, struck work on Monday demanding regularisation of their services, annual bonus and canteen facility.
According to a press release, the workers gheraoed the Administrative Block of HAL from 7.30 a.m. till 1 p.m. Earlier, when the management refused to negotiate with the union, the workers blocked the HAL Airport Road for about 30 minutes causing a traffic jam. General Manager (HRD) Premananda later held discussion with union president S. Balan and agreed to consider all its, following which the workers called off the strike.
