“Necessary advice will be given within seven working days after complaint is validated” CHENNAI: How many times have you felt the need to complain against your mobile service provider because the services do not really match up to the claims? Or how often do you wish to know if the medical equipment that gauges your ailment is certified to be accurate, or the toys children play with are safe. Complaints among consumers are many, and with the aim of addressing all of them with utmost urgency, the Consumer Association of India has launched a service through which consumers can complain about a certain product or service by sending an SMS through their mobile phones anytime from anywhere. Announcing the launch of ‘CAI Consumer Connect,' at a meeting here on Monday, members of the CAI said that this service would be of great help to consumers. “The consumers would have to download the application from our website — www.caiindia.org —, after which they can enter the complaint details and send them to us. An acknowledgement will be sent to the consumer immediately,” Krishna Kumar, trustee, CAI, said, adding that the necessary advice would be given within seven working days after the complaint is validated. Currently restricted only to persons with e-mail IDs, the service would soon be extended to all mobile phone users, he added. “The apathy of the consumer is the saddest fact in our country, we should realise that complaining is not a vice. And we are not that helpless after all,” said R. Desikan, Founder trustee, CAI.
