Killed in accident

Coimbatore: Manikandan (30), a painter from Perur, was killed when the motorcycle on which he was travelling was knocked down by a truck near Alandurai. Co-rider Saravanan (30) escaped as he jumped off the bike. The two were proceeding to Kovai Coutrallam when the accident occurred.

Woman prisoner dies

Geetha (40), who was recently arrested by the Pollachi police on charges of duping and cheating an aged couple to the tune of lakhs and several sovereigns of gold under the pretext of performing poojas, died on Monday. She was in judicial custody.

When she complained of chest pain, she was rushed to the hospital where she died.
