Focus on Indian cinema
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: His first book, “An Insider's View on Hindi Cinema”, published nearly two years ago has already gone into three reprints. And now the late seasoned journalist and film critic Anil Saari's second book on the life and work of some of the legendary figures of Indian cinema is slated for release at India International Centre Annexe here this Tuesday.
Comprising a collection of interviews by Anil Saari (1945-2005), “Indian Cinema” captures a crucial period of Indian cinema during the 1980s and ‘90s. It has been written in a chatty style. From golden era greats like Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar to leading ladies like Waheeda Rehman, Nargis, Rekha and Shabana Azmi to mega-stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Mammootty, to present-day film-makers like Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Gulzar, Yash Chopra and Subhash Ghai, the book includes articles and conversations with leading ladies and lords of Indian cinema.
Film critic Saibal Chatterjee has written a comprehensive introduction to the book published by Oxford University Press.
