Technopark firm calls back staff from Japan

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: The Technopark-based company NeST announced here on Tuesday that it will be calling back its engineers in Japan in the light of aftershocks and nuclear radiation threat following the devastating earthquake last Friday.

The company said it had reconfirmed the safety of all its 74 engineers in Japan.

“However, in view of the continuing tremors and the danger from nuclear radiation, the management has decided to bring them back to India in phases,” a pressnote here said.

The pressnote said the employees in the quake-affected areas had been brought to Tokyo earlier itself.

“The southern parts of the country remain unaffected and the engineers working there will be considered for return in the last phase only.”

The first set of employees is expected to start their return journey on Tuesday and the remaining ones over the next couple of days.

The company also said it was coordinating with its customers in Japan to offer offshore services as a backup and minimise any business impact.
