KOCHI: The curriculum reforms in higher education should address the issues of intellectual fatigue and learning plateau faced by both the teachers and the taught, Rajan Gurukkal, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, has said. In his inaugural address at a seminar on the introduction of open courses at the undergraduate level organised by Mahatma Gandhi University and the State Higher Education Council at St. Xavier's College in Aluva here on Wednesday, Dr. Gurukkal said that the concept of open course introduced under the credit semester system at the undergraduate level is a time-tested concept and curricular practice in several leading universities in the country and abroad. Rajan Varughese, Pro-Vice Chancellor, presented the new guidelines for the conduct of open courses in the fifth semester. Thomas Joseph, Member Secretary of Higher Education Council, delivered the keynote address on the occasion.
