Eight-lane corridor planned

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: With increasing traffic volume at Okalipuram junction, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has proposed a Rs. 115.5-crore eight-lane corridor which will be completed in two years.

H. Ravindra, chairperson of the Standing Committee for Major Works, said the passenger car per unit (per hour) at Okalipuram junction varied from 966 to 14,908 and the corridor, from Okalipuram junction to Fountain Circle, would ease much of the traffic problems, he said.

The project includes a unidirectional underpass (272.92 metres) from Malleswaram to Rajajinagar, a flyover (233.72 m) from Malleswaram to Bangalore City Railway Station (towards Majestic), an eight-lane corridor at ground-level (665 m) from Rajajinagar to Majestic, and a unidirectional one-level flyover (222.55 m) from Rajajinagar to the railway station.
