Eight Bills adopted amid dharna by Opposition members Opposition protests adopting of Bills without any discussion BANGALORE: The Legislative Council was on Thursday adjourned sine die amid dharna by the Opposition members demanding a CBI probe into the episode of a trust — of which Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa's two sons are members — receiving huge donations from business firms allegedly in return of official favours shown to them by the Government. Before adjourning the House, eight Bills were adopted without any discussion. The adopted bills are: The Karnataka Government Parks (Preservation, Amendment) Bill-2011 that seeks to provide parking space for vehicles of advocates and visitors in Cubbon Park without disturbing the trees there; the Karnataka Part Time Job Oriented Course Employees Absorption Bill–2011; the Karnataka Home Guards (Amendment) Bill-2011; the Factories (Karnataka Amendment Bill) Bill–2011; the Karnataka Groundwater (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Bill–2011; The Karnataka Municipal Corporations and Certain Other Law (Amendment) Bill–2011; the National Law School of India (Amendment) Bill–2011 and the Karnataka Repealing (Regional Laws) Bill–2011. The Opposition members took exception to passage of Bills without any discussion. Janata Dal (Secular) floor leader M.C. Nanaiah suggested that the Government go through ordinance route to bring about these legislations so that the House could discuss them when they come up in the form of Bills before it for replacement within the next six months. But the Government as well as Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy did not agree with the suggestion and said the Bills were being adopted without any discussion as the Opposition parties had refused to withdraw their protest. The Opposition members shouted slogans against the government for adopting the Bills without any discussion. As soon as the House met, the Opposition members trooped into the well of the House and resumed their dharna.
