Bescom AEE tops list of officials with disproportionate assets in raids

Five officials possess assets worth over Rs. 6.35 crore, says Lokayukta

BANGALORE: Five mid-level government officials were trapped by the Lokayukta net in simultaneous raids in different parts of the State on Thursday for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. Unaccounted for assets worth Rs. 6,35,55,956 were discovered in these raids, which were coordinated by the Additional Director-General of Police (Lokayukta) Rupak Kumar Dutta.

Topping the lsit

Giving details of the raids at a press conference here on Thursday, Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde said that B.N. Rajanna, an Assistant Executive Engineer at the Peenya sub-division of the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, topped the list.

His assets, that total up to Rs. 2.15 crore, include one house in Basaveshwara Nagar (Rs. 50 lakh), one shopping complex in Rajajinagar (Rs. 45 lakh), site in Yelahanka (Rs. 3 lakh), site in KEB society at Kadabageri (Rs. 2.1 lakh), five acres of land in Mahadevapura (Rs. 6 lakh), amount paid for allotment of site at Rajajinagar cooperative society (Rs. 4 lakh), one house in Nagarbhavi (Rs. 40 lakh), site in Tavarakere (Rs. 6 lakh), site in Kammasandra (Rs. 1.2 lakh), 300 grams of gold as well as silverware, shares, LIC policies, electronic items, cash and car worth Rs. 32 lakh. His bank accounts and lockers are yet to be verified.

Ekambaresh Naik an Assistant Manager with the Karnataka Warehouse Corporation at Koppal was found to be in possession of assets worth Rs. 1.72 crore. Assets owned by him include a three-storey building in Hospet (Rs. 20 lakh), a 10,000 square feet warehouse in Mariyammanahalli (Rs. 40 lakh), two poultry farms (Rs. 60 lakh).

Kalyan Rao Patil, a Godown Manager with the Food and Civil Supplies Department at Bidar allegedly owns assets worth Rs. 94.72 lakh. His assets include an apartment in Gurunanak Colony (Rs. 22.75 lakh), one building in Gurunanak Colony (Rs. 22.64 lakh) as well as two lorries, one car and household articles worth over Rs. 40 lakh.

Hanumanthappa Ningappa Bajakkanavar, a Chief Officer with the Pattana Panchayat at Lakshmeshwara in Gadag allegedly owns assets worth Rs. 62.45 lakh. It includes a house (Rs. 20 lakh), building (15 lakh) as well as several acres of agricultural land.

M. Prakash, a District Registrar at Raichur allegedly owns assets worth Rs. 87.84 lakh including two houses and a commercial building (Rs. 45 lakh).
