Top pugilists in finals

NEW DELHI: All the prominent boxers entered the finals of the 65th inter-Railway boxing championship here on Thursday.

Of all the winners on the penultimate day, Sunil Kumar (52kg) and Manoj Kumar (64kg) recorded victories in quick time. Sunil was declared the winner after the referee stopped the contest in the opening round.

The results (semifinals): 52kg: Sunil Kumar (NR) bt Bijender Singh (NWR) RSC (I), Mukesh Kumar (NCR) bt Kumar N. 18-1; 56kg: Mishal Lakra (SECR) bt Bajrang (SR) 7-3, Balbir (SCR) bt Narendra More (CR) 6-5; 60kg: Diwakar Prasad (ER) bt Sanjay Singh (NR) 6-2, Satpal Singh (NCR) bt R. Anil Kumar (ECR) 7-0.

64kg: Manoj Kumar (NR) bt G.P. Radhan (SR) KO (H), Siddharth Verma (CR) bt Deepak Sharma (NWR) 14-8; 69kg: Dilbag Singh (NR) bt Virender (CR) 10-2, Vijay (NCR) bt Sundi Rao (ECR) 14-1; 75kg: Kuldeep Singh (NR) bt V.
