Manmohan urged to hold meet with intellectuals

It will help educate MPs: Praja Spandana

VISAKHAPATNAM: Praja Spandana President C.S. Rao has urged the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of intellectuals, seasoned politicians and social scientists at national level for a frank assessment of the situation in the light of the Wikileaks revelations.

Referring to the publication of Wikileaks in The Hindu, he told reporters here on Friday that such an exercise should try to educate Parliament members on taking stock of the situation, cutting across political lines, and stem any attempt to destabilise the economy.

The effort, he hoped, would help the country from going to avert an election in the light of demands for the Prime Minister's resignation as people were also not prepared to face an election which would be a burden to the exchequer.

Concern

Mr. Rao, a former Indian Economic Service Officer who was involved in preparing Five-Year plans, expressed concern over the comments of former National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan that the Prime Minister was isolated on Pakistan.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Nagarjuna University V. Balamohandas, and members of Praja Spandana G.Krishna Rao, Mangu Sivaram Prasad, S. Ramakrishna Rao and V. Rama Rao were present.
