CHENNAI: A last minute goal ensured that SAI held AGORC to a 2–2 draw in a St. Joseph's-CFA senior division league game here on Friday. It was AGORC all the way in the first half after a goal in the 24th minute. P. Muthu just had to push the ball in after meeting a headed pass from Mervin from the edge of the box. Another opportunity emerged when Muthu launched a free-kick but AGORC's forward line couldn't score off it. SAI ushered in the second half with a lot of character making several attacking ventures. However, the equaliser came only in the 79th minute thanks to a melee inside the box. Substitute R. Ranjith Kumar drove the ball home after a shoddy clearance followed a fumbled save by the 'keeper. AGORC hit back five minutes later with a slice of brilliance by substitute A. Justus Antony whose free-kick from about 40 yards left the goalie bemused. There was more drama as SAI equalised in the third and last minute of injury time. K. Venkatesan's header off a throw-in ricocheted off an AGORC defender. Venkatesan chipped the rebound over the 'keeper's head and restored parity. Justus Antony was adjudged Man-of-the-Match. Earlier, Central Excise beat Perambur Blues 4–1 in a first division league match. Sivaraj, Murugan, Bagyaraj, and Kalialaudin notched up goals for Excise while E. Karthick scored Blues' lone goal. — Sports Reporter
