Chennai: Joginder Singh, a sports medicine doctor associated with the Indian hockey teams for over 25 years, passed away in Panchakula (near Chandigarh) on March 11. He was 72.
A specialist orthopaedic and a sports medicine expert, Dr. Joginder lived and worked near Frankfurt (Germany) for decades. A passionate devotee of hockey, he always ventured to accompany the Indian teams, whenever they played in Europe, offering free medical service. He was present with the team during the 2006 World Cup in Monchengladbach, and was an avid spectator during the 2010 World Cup in Delhi. After retirement Dr. Joginder Singh moved over to Panchakula a few years ago. He is survived by his German wife, Evi, and two daughters.
