AUT lifts Aircel Trophy

Coimbatore: Naresh (58) and Karthick (43) chipped in with useful scores as Anna University of Technology (AUT) defeated favourite Dr. NGP College of Technology by four wickets to emerge champion of the CIT Aircel Trophy cricket tournament at the CIT grounds here on Saturday.

After restricting its opponent to 171 for nine, Anna University scored the required runs with four wickets to spare.

The scores (final): Dr. NGP 171 for nine in 39 overs (Loganathan 58) lost to Anna University of Technology 172 for six in 38.3 overs (Naresh 58, Karthick 43) .

RKS CA, SRMSC

in final

RKS Cricket Academy and defending champion Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club (SRMSC) dispatched their opponents with relative ease to enter the final of the CDCA-Sri Ramakrishna Mills Twenty20 invitation cricket tournament at the SNR Sons grounds on Saturday.

The scores (semifinals): RKS CA 135 in 19.1 overs (S.R. Karthikeyan 33, C.R. Kirubashankar 65, M. Tamilselvan three for 19) lost to Jolly Rovers CC 136 for four in 19.1 overs (T. Veeramani 43, I. John Baptist 46); Rainbow CC 120 for eight in 20 overs (J. Previn Edward 36) lost to Sri Ramakrishna Mills SC 122 for three in 15.1 overs (N. Thirumurugan 57 n.o., Huzefa N. Patel 35) .

U-13 football festival

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) under-13 boys' national football festival will be held at the Bharathi Stadium in Neyveli from March 20 to 27.

The festival is part of AIFF's initiative to promote football at the grass root level. Organised by the Cuddalore District Football Association, the event has attracted 29 State teams.

The festival will feature eight-a-side matches, quiz programmes and cultural activities. The team with the highest cumulative points will be presented the ‘fair play trophy.'
