Gulbarga
GULBARGA: The Karnataka State Government Employees' Association on Friday urged the Government to concede the long-standing demand to declare Gulbarga as a B2 city and pay the House Rent Allowance (HRA) and City Compensatory Allowance (CCA) to the employees here accordingly. President of the Gulbarga unit of the association B.S. Desai and other office-bearers told presspersons here that the Government had upgraded other cities and towns in the State and hence it should upgrade Gulbarga also, immediately. Mr. Desai urged the Government to immediately increase the HRA and CCA of the State Government employees to bring them on par with those of the Central Government employees. The “Arogya Bhagya Yojna” that had been introduced for the Police Department should be extended to all other departments. Steps should be initiated to fill the 1.7-lakh vacant posts in various departments. The Government should come out with a transfer policy for government employees and the transfers should be made in a particular month, before the beginning of the academic year of schools and colleges. The practice of changing the normal working hours of government offices to 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. during summer in the districts coming under the Gulbarga Revenue Division and Bijapur and Bagalkot districts in the Belgaum Revenue Division should be continued this year also, he said. To a question, Mr. Desai said that the association had conceded the demanded for constituting a “pay committee” instead of “pay commission”, he said.
