Anusha Rizvi VISAKHAPATNAM: Director of Hindi film Peepli Live, Anusha Rizvi has been selected for the 14 {+t} {+h} Gollapudi Srinivas memorial national award for debut director, managing trustee of the Chennai-based Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation, Gollapudi Maruti Rao, said. The award was instituted in the memory of G. Srinivas, who died on August 12, 1992, while directing his first film near the beach here. “One faces many difficulties while directing his or her first film and an award recognising the efforts that went into making the first film would inspire him or her to produce better films and also inspire others to make good films,” said Mr. Maruti Rao. The award, which includes a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh, a gold-plated memento designed by noted artist Bapu, and a shawl would be presented to Anusha Rizvi at a function to be organised in Chennai on August 12. “ Peepli Live, a film on the farmers' suicides, is a savagely raw and hurting wakeup call for the conscience, which does not mince words,” Mr. Maruti Rao said.
