Krishnaveni murder case: bail plea rejected

Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM: First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K. Neelima on Monday rejected the bail petitions of Syamala and Prasanna Kumari, two of the eight accused in the alleged murder of an engineering student Krishnaveni in the city on March 4.

The proceedings were held through the video link between the court and the Central Jail where the accused were lodged, since a large number of members of woman organisations reached the District Courts complex premises expecting the accused to be brought to the court as their remand ended on Monday.

The Magistrate rejected the bail pleas of the two, who are sisters of Ch. Ravikumar, the main accused and husband of Krishnaveni, since the offence was severe. Ms. Neelima also extended the remand of the eight accused till April 1.

Krishnaveni was murdered near Maddilapalem when she was going back to her parents' house from her college. She was pregnant.

Ravikumar, his parents, the two sisters, and three of his friends who allegedly helped him to hatch the plan to kill Krishnaveni were arrested.
