KARUR: Monitor the expenditure list of candidates on a daily basis and also ensure that the contestants submit their expenses list daily, Election Observer (Expenditure) Dinesh Kumar said here on Sunday. Addressing election work-related officials, including the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers, Mr. Dinesh Kumar said that the respective Accounting Committees should monitor the expenses of each candidate. The Election Commission has appointed two Assistant Election Expenditure Observers for Karur Assembly seat and one each for Aravakurichi, Kulithalai and Krishnarayapuram seats and they should precisely oversee the expenditure list daily. They should maintain a statement of accounts separately for each candidates and constituencies. Besides, the Assistant Election Expenditure Observers must advise the candidates to maintain an account of expenses in the stated format. People can dial the number 75987 00179 between four pm and five pm on any day to register any complaints. Collector and District Election Officer J. Uma Maheswari, District Revenue Officer T. Pitchaiah, Personal Assistant to Collector (Elections) Govindhan, Elections Tahsildar Govindaraj, and Assistant Elections Expenditure Observers were among those who participated in the meeting. Ms. Uma Maheswari said that based on the instructions of the EC a special control room has been established at the Collectorate here for the benefit of voters to register complaints regarding electoral rolls registration, inclusion and other election-related activities . The control room could be accessed through toll free number 1800-425-7029, 1800-425-6669. They could also get the status of their complaints and suggestions through the control room. Alternatively they could send SMS to 94863 21217 by typing REG <MESSAGE> with the message not more than 160 characters. After the complaint is registered a serial number would be given. Anyone could access the number to get the status of their petition by sending another SMS.
