Over Rs. 1 crore seized since March 12

Jewels worth Rs. 1,09,44,228 seized in Vellore constituency on Tuesday Saris, liquor bottles, watches and rice bags were seized in various parts of the district
VELLORE: The poll flying squads in the district have seized cash to the tune of Rs. 1,12,80,147 and saris, wrist watches, tiffin boxes, jewels and rice bags during checks across 13 Assembly constituencies from March 12 to 22.
According to a press release, jewels worth Rs. 1,09,44,228 were seized near the Vellore New Corporation building in Vellore Assembly constituency on Tuesday.
A sum of Rs. 28,10,800 was seized on March 15 in Vellore town. On the same day, Rs. 9,14,500 was seized at the Vinayagapuram Arch in Gudiyattam constituency. While, Rs. four lakh was seized at Guruvarajapalayam in Ambur on March 16, Rs. three lakh was seized on March 17 at Nekkundi village in Vaniyambadi.
On March 18, cash to the tune of Rs. 6,43,862 was seized near Jameen village in Ambur and Rs. 3,20,000 was seized near Paratharami check-post in KV Kuppam. On March 19, over Rs. 17 lakh was seized from various parts of the district. The squads seized a little over Rs. 10 lakh from Pudukudiyanoor junction in Sholinghur and Bathrapalli checkpost in Gudiyattam on March 21.
Besides cash, saris, liquor bottles, wrist watches and rice bags were seized from across the district, the release added.
