Strike hits work at passport office

CHENNAI: Acceptance of passport applications and verification of documents were disrupted at the passport office for half a day here on Tuesday following a call for a joint strike by the All India Passport Employees and Passport Officers Associations.

Since morning, officers and staff struck work, owing to which passport applications from members of public were not accepted.

Talks were held in New Delhi since Monday evening between officials and representatives of the associations, which went on till 3 a.m. on Tuesday. Another round of talks was held at 9 a.m.
