HMDA and Water Board to execute the Rs. 55 crore project Land allotted to Metro Rail project on lease basis for 30 years HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) on Tuesday approved the project of laying 15-km sewerage main trunk line from Picket main nala to open nala at S.P.Road under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). A decision to this effect was taken at Cantonment Board Meeting. The project would be taken up by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority in association with Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board at a cost of Rs. 55 crore. Different phases The project would be taken up in different phases, including laying trunk line from New City Colony to S.P. road, A.P. Text Book Press Colony to Paradise road, Sikh Village, Paigah Colony, Rasoolpura Colonies and Paradise road to Necklace road. It is planned to cater to the increase in population for the next 30 years. All the works, including restoration of roads with cement concreting would be taken up under the project and the Board would spend money for rest of the works, said SCB Chief Executive Officer C. Ravindra. On granting permission for Hyderabad Metro Rail to take up different works in cantonment limits, the Board decided to allot 9,800 square metres of land on lease basis at a total lease rent of nearly Rs. 1.5 crore per year for an initial period of 30 years. The land affected due to Hyderabad Metro Rail works is the stretch from Jubilee Bus Station to Ganesh Temple and a portion of land near Cantonment Defence Estate Officer's office. The lease rent is calculated on the Standard Tariff Rates and it is four times higher the lease rent of residential purpose. However, the file would be sent to Ministry of Defence, New Delhi for final approval, informed Mr. Ravindra. Levy of fines Acting on the complaints regarding overcharging by octroi and toll tax contractors, the Board decided to levy a fine of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 3,000 for octroi and toll tax contractors respectively for each offence.
