ADILABAD: Pudari Vijay Kumar, a teacher working in Utnoor mandal of Adilabad district was waylaid and robbed of Rs. 5 lakh in cash by nine identified persons on March 18 on the outskirts of Nanded district head quarters in Maharashtra. The teacher had gone to Nanded to purchase gold. A local jeweller and his accomplice, who had also accompanied Vijay Kumar, had assured him of facilitating such a purchase through their contacts in Nanded. The duo is now the prime suspect in the case. According to information that has seen the light of the day belatedly, Vijay Kumar and the two suspects reached Nanded at about 5 p.m. on March 18. The unsuspecting teacher was given to understand by three local ‘contacts' that the transaction would be secret and has to take place at a late hour. At about 11 p.m. the victim was taken to an isolated place on the outskirts of Nanded by the three locals. A gang of six waylaid the vehicle at this juncture and relieved Vijay Kumar of the cash and his cell phone. Based on a complaint, the anti-dacoity squad of the Nanded police is investigating the case in which the jeweller and his accomplice are suspected to have hatched the conspiracy. The police is on the look out for the nine accused who committed the robbery.
