Police restore missing cash

COIMBATORE: Bakery owner Murugan was in for a surprise on Tuesday. Ukkadam police who recovered the Rs. 57,750 he lost on Monday, restored it to him.

They said when Murugan, 40, was on his way to buy goods, he lost the bag he was carrying on his two-wheeler.

Ukkadam Sub Inspector Marusai, who was near the Oppanakara Street regulating traffic, noticed the handbag, and after discovering that it had cash took it to the police station.

Murugan, who later realised that the bag was missing, went to the Ukkadam police station to lodge a complaint. Police after verifying the facts and ascertaining the truth, handed over the bag containing the cash.

Passenger arrested

Coimbatore Rural Police have arrested Mariadass, 45, who picked up a brawl with bus conductor Samivel. The police said Mariadass entered the bus in an inebriated condition and had a wordy which turned into a fisticuff. He was taken to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Four missing

Periyanaickenpalayam police are looking for the whereabouts of Pavithra, 25, her friend Vijayalakshmi, 27, and their children. The police said the two were working in a mill in the area. On March 16, Pavithra along with her children Dinesh Kumar, 11, and Swathi, 8, and Vijayalakshmi and her daughters Charulatha, 10, and Sakthi, 9, went missing.
