Over 2,000 employees to be deployed

PERAMBALUR: About 2,600 government employees, including presiding officers and zonal officers, would be deployed on election duty in Perambalur district, according to M.Vijayakumar, Collector.

The two Assembly constituencies of Perambalur and Kunnam in the district would have 537 polling stations.

As many as 644 presiding officers have been appointed. Twenty per cent of these officers will be on reserve list.

The first phase of training on handling the electronic voting machines and other poll process for the presiding officers and other personnel to be deployed in the polling stations would be held on March 27.

The second and third phase of training would be conducted on April 3 and 9, Mr.Vijayakumar said in a press release.
