This Day That Age
President Kennedy has invited Mr. Nehru to visit the United States but there are no immediate plans for the two to meet. Mr. Averell Harriman, American President's Roving Ambassador, on March 23 delivered a personal message from President Kennedy expressing the hope that it would be possible for him to have personal talks with Mr. Nehru. Approached by Pressmen, Mr. Nehru said that while he had accepted the invitation he could not say when it would materialise. Mr. Harriman told Pressmen that American policies in regard to colonialism, military pacts and economic aid were coming closer not only to the traditional Rooseveltian era but also to India's. He said that Mr. Nehru appreciated President Kennedy's new economic aid policy.
