Kakarlapally case: notice to State

Legal Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice V. Eshwaraiah and Justice V.S. Appa Rao on Wednesday ordered notices in a writ petition filed seeking inquiry into the firing at Kakarlapally, Srikakulam district, upon the persons protesting construction of thermal power plant.

The Bench was dealing with a petition filed by WATCH-Voice of the People. The petitioner contended that all the permissions were obtained illegally and the police used excessive force. The Bench ordered notices to the government and adjourned the matter.

In another case, a Bench ordered notices in a writ petition filed complaining against inaction of the government in taking action against former MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for alleged violation of various enactments.

The writ petition was filed by K. Sherwani of Kadapa.
