Three suffer burns as house set ablaze

PANAJI: The Goa police arrested Ratnakar (23) of Maharashtra, who is living at Verna in south Goa, on Wednesday on the charge of setting ablaze a house at Verna on Monday.

Three persons from Orissa suffered burns in the incident.

The condition of one of the injured is said to be serious.

Sushant Gauns, police sub-inspector, told The Hindu that Gariba Ishwar Andrap (23) suffered 85 per cent burns, while his wife Janu Andrap (22) and a 20-year-old girl from Prajapati district in Orissa sustained minor burns.

While the couple came to Goa a month ago, the girl joined them recently.

The police officer said the accused would be produced before the Magistrate on Thursday to seek police custody.

Investigation is on.
