‘Curb examination malpractices'

Prohibitory orders around SSLC exam centres Four vigilance teams to be formed at district level
BIJAPUR: Deputy Commissioner S.S. Pattanshetty has instructed Education Department officials to make necessary arrangements for a smooth conduct of the SSLC examinations, scheduled to start on April 1.
Measures
Presiding over a meeting of district level officers here on Wednesday, he said stringent measures should be taken to curb malpractices such as copying. He said prohibitory orders would be clamped around examinations centres and additional security arrangements would be made around sensitive and hyper sensitive examination centres.
Of the 97 examination centres in the district, four have been identified as hyper sensitive; six sensitive and remaining are normal centres.
Numbers
This year, 28, 9676 students have registered for the examinations of which 16,968 are boys and 11,999 are girls.
Of these total students 5560 students belong to scheduled caste and 481 students belong to scheduled tribes, he said, adding that of the 28,967 students 27,383 students are fresh candidates, 999 students are repeaters and 591 are external students.
He said 1,350 teachers would be given examination duties, four vigilance teams would be formed at the district level to avoid malpractices and 72 officers would look after the preparations.
