Kamat reaches out to drivers

DEMAND CONCEDED:Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and MLA Victoria Fernandes serving juice to contract drivers of Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. who ended their fast in Panaji on Thursday.
PANAJI: In response to a prolonged debate in the Legislative Assembly on the issue of on-going hunger strike of the 68 bus drivers working on contract basis with the State-owned Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. (KTC), Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Thursday promised to regularise their services after following due process.
Congress MLA Dayanand Narvekar raised the issue of the drivers whose hunger strike had entered seventh day on Thursday. The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also pressed for their regularisation of their service by the Government without delay.
