Hat-trick by Surabhuddin

KOCHI: Surabhuddin scored thrice in a 15-minute spell as Eagles FC blanked Udaya Sporting 4-0 in the Wayna Cochin Premier League at the Maharaja's Stadium here on Thursday.

After running aimlessly in the first session, professional side Eagles came alive in the second half and scored three of its four goals from neatly-executed set-pieces.

Surabhuddin opened the scoring in the 55 {+t} {+h} minute with a curling freekick and five minutes later he foxed the Udaya goalkeeper with a teasing penalty. Sumesh made it 3-0 from a corner in the 63 {+r} {+d} minute and Surabhuddin was on target once again in the 70 {+t} {+h}.

Eagles FC, Golden Threads and Central Excise have finished their league engagements and are now level with 11 points at the top of Group ‘B'. A draw of lots will be taken later to decide the two semifinal spots from the group. — Special Correspondent
