Coimbatore: Kongunadu Munnetra Kazhagam (KMK) has sought a ban on the film Ponnar Sankar, which is based on Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's novel. Loganathan said that Annamar Swamy was worshipped by the Kongu Vellalar community for a long time. The memorandum alleged that some scenes in the film were expected to hurt the sentiments of lakhs of people in the community. Hence, the film should be banned, he said. Censor The memorandum added that if the film were to be released, it would provide a wrong interpretation of history to the people of the Kongu Vellalar community.
