‘Sensitise youth on cooperative movement'

Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: Despite many initiatives, not many youth show interest in the cooperatives which address the problems of people. There is a need to sensitise youth and change the policy to attract them to the cooperative movement.

These were some of the opinions expressed on the inaugural day of the first regional South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation's workshop on “Campus cooperatives and youth integration in cooperatives” on Wednesday.

Seventy delegates from S AARC and ASEAN countries are participating in the workshop jointly organised by the International Cooperative Alliance (Asia Pacific) (ICA-AP), National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), the Karnataka State Cooperative Federation (KSCF) and the Mangalore University Employees' Credit Cooperative Society .
