Jewellery, cash taken away
Staff Correspondent
Tumkur: Gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 2,000 in cash were reportedly taken away from Subbarayappa's house on Thursday morning in the Kyathasandra police station limits in Tumkur.
The police said that a person aged around 30 who posed as a customer came to the coin phone booth owned by Subbarayappa. He managed to divert Subbarayappa and his wife's attention by speaking to them in front of their house seeking coins to call from the coin booth.
The police suspected that as the couple were speaking to the person, his accomplice might have entered the house from the backdoor and made away with 190 grams of gold ornaments and the cash.
The couple found the door of the almirah opened and the ornaments missing only in the afternoon, the police said.
A case has been registered in the Kyathasandra police station.
