PUDUKOTTAI: Deputy Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has blamed AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa for having stalled the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Marriage Assistance Scheme whenever she came to power . On the other hand, the DMK rule not only restored the programme but even increased the quantum of grant, he said, kicking off election campaign at Thethuvaasalpatti village bordering Pudukottai district on Thursday.

Mr.Stalin said the DMK government has kept its all poll promises and its achievement during 2006-2011 had been acknowledged worldwide.

While the opposition had raised doubt over the feasibility of the free colour television scheme, Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi had succeeded in implementing it.

Referring to the implementation of the ‘Kalaignar Housing Scheme,' Mr. Stalin said that the Chief Minister had planned to construct 21 lakh houses across the State of which work on three lakh units had been taken up this year.

Listing out the salient features of the poll manifesto for the forthcoming Assembly elections, Mr.Stalin said that the rise in the revolving fund, scale of finance, and subsidy would benefit women.

He pointed out that he had been keeping constant touch with the people which encouraged him to canvass in favour of the DMK-led front candidates.

“But, there are a few leaders who meet you only at the time of election,” he said introducing the DMK nominee for Gandarvakottai (res) constituency Kavithai Pithan to voters.
