47 more file nominations in Kozhikode district

Battle begins: C.K. Nanu, LDF candidate for the Vadakara Assembly constituency, filing his nomination papers before the returning officer in Kozhikode on Friday. —

Kozhikode: With one more day left for submitting nominations to the April-13 Assembly election, 47 more candidates filed nominations in the district on Friday, taking the total number to 88.

Former State president of KSU Adam Mulsi, who is the UDF candidate for Beypore; C.K. Nanu of Janada Dal (S) and M.K. Premnath of the Socialist Janata-Democratic (SJD)—LDF and UDF candidates respectively for Vadakara; and M. Mehaboob of CPI(M), who is the LDF candidate for Koduvally, are among the prominent figures who filed their papers on Friday.

Among the others who filed the papers from various constituencies on Friday were: Jaya Sadanandan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Fayis Muhammed (Social Democratic Party of India-SDPI) and Musafir Ahammed (independent) in Kozhikode (South); A. Balaraman of Congress in Balussery; Kunhammed of SDPI and T.M. Muhammed Iqbal of Kerala Congress (M) in Perambra; Shake P. Haris of SJD In Elathur; Ismael of SDPI and K.P. Prakashan of BJP in Nadapuram; Jose Kannezhath of BJP, Cheriya Muhammed of IUML, Moyin Kutty (Independent) and Muhammed Basheer of PDP in Thiruvambadi; Neelakandan Nambeeshan of BJP, Abu of SDPI and Abdul Razak of IUML in Koduvally; Muhammed of SDPI, K.K. Kunhikanaran (independent) and Sundaran of BSP in Kunnamangalam; and Muthukoya of SDPI in Beypore.
