Seminar on gender and human rights from today

BIJAPUR: The Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Karnataka State Women's University, will organise a two-day national seminar on ‘Gender and human rights: the role of media' at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Auditorium of the university from Saturday.

In a press release issued here on Monday, university Vice-Chancellor Geeta Bali stated that the seminar would be inaugurated by B.A. Vivek Rai, guest professor, University of Wurzburg, Germany, and the former Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Open University. Veteran journalist Kalpana Sharma would deliver keynote address.

The UGC-sponsored seminar will focus on topics such as women and human rights; socio-economic and political rights and media; media and human rights; human rights issues in electronic media and new media; and women's representation in media.
