Bail plea of blast accused rejected

Staff Reporter

‘Their role in other blast cases in various parts of the country has to be probed and prime accused are still absconding'

HYDERABAD: A local court here on Friday rejected the bail pleas of two accused in 2007 Mecca Masjid bomb blast case on the grounds that their role in other blast cases, in various parts of the country, had to be probed and that the prime accused in these cases are still absconding.

The court dismissed the bail petitions of Devendra Gupta and Lokesh Sharma after hearing the arguments of defence and prosecution.

Judicial custody

The accused are presently under judicial custody. Gupta and Sharma whose bail petitions were earlier dismissed by the court here in November last year on the grounds that investigations were still on in the blast case, had again sought bail and approached the court last week.

Prime accused

The prime accused -- Sandeep Dange and Ramchandra Kalsangra are still absconding while another accused Swami Asimanand is being interrogated by the CBI which is probing the case. One more accused Sunil Joshi was killed in 2007.
