HYDERABAD: A woman, who disappeared with Rs.7 lakh belonging to an advocate, was arrested by the Osmania University police on Friday. Police recovered Rs.1 lakh in cash and six tolas gold ornaments from the possession of the arrested woman, Mary Sunitha (32) of Ayodhyanagar in Mehdipatnam. Osmania University Sub-Inspector K. Ravi said the woman had visited popular tourist spots at Vijayawada, Chennai and other places with the stolen amount. In Chennai, she visited a corporate hospital for medical check-up as she was suffering from skin diseases. Apart from buying gold jewellery, she purchased a laptop and even donated Rs.10,000 to a religious organisation in Chennai. “We nabbed her while moving under suspicious circumstances near Tarnaka,” Mr. Ravi said. He said Sunitha came to an advocate Madan Mohan's office in connection with her divorce case. When they were engaged in a conversation, another person, Jagan, came to handover Rs.10 lakh pertaining to the sale of land. He gave the lawyer Rs.7 lakh in cash and a cheque for the remaining money and left. After sometime, the advocate went to washroom asking the woman to keep an eye on the money. Then she bolted the washroom door from outside when the lawyer went inside and fled with the amount. Police inquiries revealed that the woman was earlier involved in similar cases reported at Trimulgherry, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. Sunitha, hailing from Guntur district, came to the city in 1999.
