District braces for WC semi-final clash

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Cricket has taken precedence over every other issue since the India-Pakistan clash was set up for the semi-final of the ongoing World Cup Cricket to be held on March 30.

Everyone seems to be discussing cricket and planning to make suitable changes to their regular schedule of work so as to be able to watch the televised version of the day and night match to be played at Mohali, Chandigarh.

Important match

“This match is more important than even the final of the tournament for all the cricket lovers in both the countries,” Jatin Patel, a cricket enthusiast and businessman summed up the rationale behind the eagerness of locals.

He says the match assumes added importance as the clash between the traditional rivals in the subcontinent has come after a gap of about 4 years.

Cricket lovers are busy forming into groups to make an event of watching the match on television.

Most of them will opt for watching the match within the confines of a room in a local lodge as the event will stoke emotions thereby generating great noise.

Restaurants and liquor bars in town will have TV sets installed on the appointed day. Apparently, none of them wants to lose the itinerant customers.

Those of the citizens who cannot afford to leave their places of business or those who fear their employees may remain absent on the appointed day are also making necessary arrangements for the event.

“Yes, people are asking for portable TV sets soon after the clash was set up,” said an electronic goods vendor.
