GUNTUR: The Medical and Health Department (M&HD) organised 4,486 medical camps (2,96,000 persons were treated in them) last year and it is making efforts to render better health care services in the current year, Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu said in a video-conference with Principal Secretary (Health) P.V. Ramesh on Saturday. Mr. Ramanjaneyulu said people were well aware of various diseases and precautions due to the intensive campaigning done by the M&HD. This helped in preventing the spread of diseases to a large extent. He said cooperation of the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) would be taking in detecting the prevalence of malaria and controlling it, particularly in tribal areas where the risk is high. Guntur Municipal Commissioner M.M. Naik and District Medical and Health Officer M Gopi Naik were present.
