Correspondent
Kolhapur: Dattatray Metake, Commissioner of the Sangli-Miraj Municipal Corporation, filed a criminal complaint against Sambaji Pawar, BJP MLA, in a district court at Sangli on Friday for his alleged campaign against the corporation's drive to remove huts.
Mr. Pawar had alleged that the commissioner had vested interest in the drive. It involved a deal of Rs. 23 crore. The corporation had decided to sell the open space after removing the huts.
Mr. Pawar alleged that Mr. Metake was not mentally sound and he was threatening to kill those who opposed the drive. Hence, his pistol should be confiscated, Mr. pawar said. The commissioner pointed out in a press conference on Friday that these allegations had damaged his image, and hence, he had filed a complaint against Mr. Pawar. Another civil suit for a compensation of Rs.1 crore would be filed soon, he said.
