Shimoga: An incident of hotel owners assaulting the officials of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, who conducted a raid to seize domestic LPG cylinders illegally being diverted for commercial use, has been reported from Bhadravathi on Saturday. A team of officials under tahsildar Abhijin, Assistant Director of Food and Civil Supplies Sridhar raided hotels and restaurants adjacent to the KSRTC bus-stand on B.H. Road. During the raid, officials found domestic LPG cylinders being used there. Eight cylinders were seized. Hotel owners, who assembled there, tried to resist the officials and assault them. It is said that in the melee, hotel owners took back seven cylinders that were seized by the officials. The police, who arrived at the spot, dispersed the mob. The officials of Department of Food and Civil Supplies registered a complaint against three persons in this connection.
