THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Renowned cardio-thoracic surgeon, social activist and author P.K.R. Warrier died here on Saturday. He was 90.
A progeny of the freedom struggle, Dr. Warrier was a medical professional with firm political convictions, an epitome of selfless service and a role model for socially committed medical practice.
The first head of the department of cardio-thoracic surgery at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, he had endeared himself to thousands, particularly the poor, during his professional career and many more as a professional who upheld the human values above everything else.
