Former OU professor passes away

HYDERABAD: A former professor of Osmania University Engineering College, V.S.R. Murthi, passed away on Tuesday here at his residence in Snehapuri Colony of Nacharam.

Best teacher award

Dr. Murthi worked as a professor for over 30 years in the Mechanical Engineering Department and held several positions like head of the department and chairman of the board of studies.

The college awarded him with best teacher twice. He presented 50 papers in national and international journals. Twenty persons secured Ph.D. degrees under his guidance.

Among Dr. Murthi's students are the present Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, professor D.N. Reddy, and head of the Mechanical Engineering department, P. Laxminarayana.

Sixty-eight-year-old Dr. Murthi is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Cremation

The cremation will take place after the arrival of his elder son who is in America currently.
