HYDERABAD: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said on Tuesday that industry would be consulted before drafting a comprehensive land allotment policy. “We will consult the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and other organisations while drafting the land policy,” he told reporters after conclusion of the budget session of the Assembly on Tuesday night. The draft policy is likely to take at least two months before it is ready. It would be flexible in order to encourage more industries to invest in the State and be transparent to avoid scope for allegations of irregularities. He referred to the observation of AICC president Sonia Gandhi at the party plenum some time ago that allotment of lands should be done with care. “She had written to the Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled States to follow rules while alienating government land and do away with the discretionary powers,” he pointed out. “All land allotment costing above Rs. 5 lakh must come for Cabinet approval,” he added. He denied that the decision to constitute a House Committee to look into alleged irregularities in land allotment was a vindictive measure. The committee would look into specific allegations .
