Dharbandora taluk comes into being in Goa

Special Correspondent

PANAJI: The Goa Government, in an effort to decentralise administration and take it to the doorsteps of people, has created a new taluk of Dharbandora in south Goa district. The taluk administration of the new taluk should commence from “Gudi Padwa” — the Maharashtrian new year on April 4.

The newly constituted 12th taluk of Goa would cater to the needs of remote areas in Sanguem taluk — Mollem, Collem, Dharbandora, Codli and Sancordem, also a part of Ponda i.e. Usgao.

Creation of new taluk would resolve many perennial issues of the people in these areas, said a government spokesman here on Tuesday.

The office of Mamlatdar of Dharbandora will be at Dharbandora village panchayat sports complex.

The old panchayat office will house the office of the Block Development Officer, the Public Works Department (Buildings) and (Roads), Agriculture, Water Resource Development, Electricity, Transport, Education, Town Planning and so on.
