13 Youth Congress workers get jail term

KASARAGOD: A court here on Thursday sentenced 13 Youth Congress workers to five years and three months of jail term for attacking the police during a Collectorate march in October 2008. The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court awarded the sentence to M. Shaji, T.N. Sunil, V. Balakrishnan, K.P. Arjunan, P. Sasindran, V. Gopalan, V. Sunil, K. Babu, Ashokan, Rajesh Babu, H. Madhavan, Shaji and P.V. Santhosh, all of whom hailing from the district,  to jail terms under provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

At least six policemen, including a Circle Inspector, were injured during incident.
