Police recover property worth Rs. 1.5 crore

Bangalore: As many as 154 cases of dacoity, thefts, robbery, vehicle thefts and burglary have been cracked by the South Division police in the last one month and stolen property worth Rs. 1.5 crore seized from 82 persons.

The recovered property comprises 95 motorcycles, 10 cars, 42 mobile phones, Rs. 43 lakh worth gold ornaments, Rs. 3-lakh worth silver articles, two laptops, Rs. 2.65-lakh worth electronic materials, Rs. 1.98 lakh and other household articles worth Rs. 10.92 lakh.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) T. Suneel Kumar, on Thursday, told reporters that staff attached to 15 police stations in the division have been successful in recovering the stolen properties after conducting a series of raids in their jurisdiction. The recovered properties were displayed at the DCPs office near South End Circle here on Thursday.

Mr. Suneel Kumar, after a formal function, returned property worth Rs. 61.60 lakh to claimants. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) Sonia Narang and other officials were present.

Arrested

Jabiullah alias Jabi Gous (21) from Cottonpet has been arrested by the Chamarajpet police on charges of theft and recovered Rs. 8.30-lakh worth gold ornaments from him. According to the police, the accused had committed thefts in Byatarayanapura, Chamarajapet and Basavanagudi.

Chamarajpet police have also arrested a gang of five notorious offenders who were allegedly involved in thefts, extortions and robbery cases. The accused are: Alim Khan alias Alim (20), Asif Pasha alias Uvez (20) from Chamarajpet, Saveer alias Goru (19) of Hunsur in Mysore district, Nadeem (21) of Kengeri and Mohid alias Doni (21) of Cottonpet.

The police have confiscated five gold chains, two motorcycles and three mobiles phones from them. Thyagarajanagar police nabbed Vinod Kumar alias Vinod (24) of Jaraganahalli and Venkatesh (22) of Anekal and seized gold, silver and pearl jewellery worth Rs. 5.16 lakh from them.

Valuables seized

Jayanagar police arrested seven habitual robbers here recently and seized Rs. 5.95-lakh worth gold ornaments, a motorcycle and other valuables from them.
